+ Kay Stationery +

My first assignment in my Printing Basics class! We had to create something that would fit on an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of paper, and I chose to do 2 notepads + 1 notebook. We also had to do some kind of bindery with it.

It is of Kay from my webcomic "Kay the Cookie Jar Dragon."

In retrospect, I probably should've messed with the ink flow to make it lighter, so that the one notepad could be written on easier. Oh well.

It hasn't been graded yet, but I'll probably find out sometime next week. I turned in the evaluation materials today!

BTW, shrink-wrapping is loads of fun. I want my own shrink-wrap machine now. D: I'd play with it allll the time.

1 Polyester plate with my image on it
Spiral binding
Cut apart on some huge scary cutting machine
Perfect binding glue (never wrote down the name)
Shrink wrap machine + film
Black ink pens that I shoved in with the stationery because once the prof said you could shrink wrap 3d objects, I knew I had to try it. It was awesome.

I have no idea what category this should go in.

All of the papers were printed on an AB Dick offset press with a single color. I guess that's technically Lithography, but the gallery description for printing > lithography never mentioned a polyester plate. D:

I don't think it should go under packaging, because that wasn't the main focus. Is there a gallery for bindery items?
It's done in a manga style and is traditional, but it doesn't quite fit under drawings.

Then does it go under designs? If so, which subcategory is the elusive one I seek? It's not exactly an advertisement, and it's not as mascot (seeing as it's the main char of my webcomic).

I fear this might go through some cyclical black hole of mis-categorization and be banished from gallery to gallery, never quite finding a home for itself.
